Nanotechnology for growth

Nanotechnology is a vast field of promising opportunities and emerging technologies for a multitude of applications in energy, electronics, biomedicin, environment as well as engineering and materials. Major programs and efforts have been launched in many countries and internationally to exploit rapidly expanding nanotechnology developments. Still obstacles and risk hamper expectations of fast and easy returns on investments.

The seminar was directed at sharing experiences of nanotechnology for growth in Russia and Sweden.

Rusnano is in charge of Russian national policy for nanotechnology research and development. The Russian nanoproduct market 2008 was estimated to more than 20 G€. Rusnano, which has a capital base of 3 G€, has so far invested more than 1,5 G€ in nanoindustry such as fabrication of nanoproducts, building infrastructure for nanotechnology projects including scientific forecasting and road maps, standardization and certification as well as safety. Rusnano is open for collaboration with companies from other countries.
