Science and Technology for All – The NTA programme
The aim of the NTA programme is to support teachers in their efforts to inspire curiosity, an interest in and an understanding of science and technology among school children.
The NTA program offers and develops methods as well as products and services aimed at enhancing science and technology learning and teaching – both at the general municipal level and at the level of individual schools/schools districts.
The NTA programme was launched in 1997 as a project by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (KVA) and the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) in cooperation with local authorities throughout Sweden.
In the participating municipalities NTA provides support and inspiration for children, youth and teachers in an effort to develop elementary school science and technology education. NTA facilitates the creation of long-term plans for development in schools in a process that also involves local industry, institutions and people outside the school system. The structure of the collaboration is determined by the situation in the respective municipalities. The objective is to provide support and inspiration so that elementary school children and teachers can achieve the goals specified in the Swedish national curriculum and syllabuses.
