Björn O. Nilsson will leave his position as President of IVA next year. The sights are set on having a new President in place after the summer of 2017.

“Being President of IVA has, without doubt, been the most enjoyable thing I’ve ever done. But I also want to take the chance to try new things and expand my other commitments. I’m proud of my work at IVA, but I think it’s time for renewal. I’ll remain involved in IVA’s activities as a member of the Academy.”

Björn O. Nilsson started as President of IVA in summer 2008. When his first tenure ended he was re-elected by the Assembly of the Academy for an additional six years with the option to leave after half of that term. Björn, who is 60, has now announced that he will be leaving IVA after a total of nine years as President.

The President of IVA is elected by the Academy members for a six-year term. The election of the President takes place at the Assembly of the Academy at which all members are entitled to vote. The recruitment process for a successor for the post of President of IVA is being handled by the IVA Executive Council in cooperation with recruitment firm Novare.

Björn O. Nilsson is currently on the board of ÅF AB and is Chairman of BioInvent International AB and of the Swedish Athletic Association.
