The starting point for R2B is to promote more successful partnerships focusing on research results and leading to new innovations or other commercial development, and for this to make Sweden more competitive and contribute to positive development in society.
IVA’s 100 List – highlighting research for sustainable development
IVA’s 100 List sheds light on current research and makes it easier for researchers and businesses to find each other, and together create innovations and new commercial opportunities. The research projects on the first 100 List – which was presented in March 2019 – all have commercial potential and relate to digitalisation. In our 2020 list, we want to highlight research with a connection to sustainability.
R2B Summit – exclusive meetingplace for researchers and businesses
R2B Summit is an annual national event to which IVA invites selected researchers from universities and research institutions and decision-makers responsible for innovation, research and development within their companies and organisations. Around 100 researchers met around the same number of company representatives at the first R2B Summit in 2019. The next R2B Summit will be on 18 March 2020.
R2B Mentor – support researchers in the collaboration with commercial actors
R2B Mentor is a year-long mentoring programme aimed at researchers who want to enhance their career and improve their ability to commercialise their research by learning more about business development and how the business world works. The researchers are matched with an experienced mentor from IVA’s network with insight into the opportunities and challenges, as well as potential problems that arise in the intersection between academia and industry.
The aim is to increase knowledge and provide the basis for enlightened decisions within and outside the project, with a focus on, for example, challenges and obstacles and how they can be overcome. Activities include seminars, knowledge dialogue, field trips and meetings.
Partners and funding
R2B was launched by IVA in December 2017 and is a long-term initiative run by IVA in cooperation with organisations, companies and universities and their innovation departments. Vinnova is funding the project’s pilot activities for the first three years.
