In current time, improved knowledge about human biology and diseases together with better methods and instruments, allow us to do very accurate analyses of patients. Analyzing genes, proteins, metabolites, gut bacteria etc will most likely lead to advances in diagnosis and treatments. Still, it is not easy for the common individual to navigate in the jungle of available information. Many alternatives for advice are offered from doctors, influencers or companies selling advanced analyses on blood samples or genetic material. This seminar hosted by IVAs division for biotechnology, invites you to navigate the current information landscape and to discuss how to separate opinions from facts related to medicine and health.
Key note speaker is Edzard Ernst, MD and PhD, professor emeritus, who is specialized on critical review of alternative medicine. We will also hear Marju Orho-Melander, professor Lunds university, Emma Frans, PhD and science journalist and Mathias Uhlén, professor Karolinska institutet and KTH. Eugen Steiner is moderating the seminar.
The seminar is in English and will be broadcasted online for those who cannot attend in person.
