A green conversion could help solve some of the great societal challenges by reducing our climate footprint, creating more jobs (mainly in rural areas) and reducing dependence on imported fossil raw materials. The Swedish forest industry has an opportunity to play a key role in the green conversion and in developing a biobased economy.
Innovation in the Forest Industry has identified a number of areas where the Swedish forest industry, in cooperation with the political and academic spheres, needs transformation and development. These are primarily innovation-driven leadership, research and development, and creating more value from forest raw materials with a focus on bioenergy and wood construction.
Seminar participants: Tuula Teeri, President IVA; Olof Persson, Chairman of the Steering Committee for Innovation in the Forest Industry; Lennart Rådström, chairman of the work group Future Value Chains and Venture Capital, and Steering Committee member; Jan Wintzell, Senior VP Business Development and Innovation at Sveaskog; and Lars Berglund, member of the project’s Steering Committee, Professor at KTH and Director of the Wallenberg Wood Science Center.
