Will clouds, fog and rAIn bring us a sunny future?

Internet of Things (IoT) is a rapidly growing network of connected devices able to collect and share enormous amount of data via embedded sensors. Artificial intelligence (AI) is used for more efficient analysis of the generated data and active decision making. The merger of the IoT and AI enables advanced applications in healthcare, digital personal assistance, aviation industry, manufacturing and robotics etc.

The cloud infrastructure is critical to enable AI and capture the IoT data. However, the short latency constraints of emerging timing-critical applications require a more distributed architecture with computation nodes at the edge of the network, close to the source of data. This architecture is called fog computing.

Sweden is continuously enhancing innovations in area of smart cities, homes, and businesses and is well-positioned to take advantage of opportunities offered by AI, IoT, fog and cloud. But how do we compare to the Silicon Valley and the emerging technology trends enabled at the intersection of AI and IoT? What impact has the cultural differences?

In this seminar, we will present AI and IoT technology trends, opportunities and challenges, state-of-the-art sustainable cloud architecture of leading companies, like Google and Amazon, and discuss possible solutions to redefine the role of Sweden in emerging technological advancement.

Nasim Farahini, PhD, has a CTO role at Qamcom focusing on advancing technologies in AI, IoT and Cloud.

She comes most recently from Google in Mountain View where she has worked with AI systems and Cloud IoT Platforms. Previously, she has among other things led teams designing custom hardware accelerators targeting digital signal processing and neural network applications.

Leveraging the experience of advanced hardware design, AI, IoT and Cloud, Nasim is currently working with industry partners to shape the future of autonomous systems and intelligent platform solutions for tomorrow’s business needs.

Breakfast is served from 07:30
