The Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) is an independent academy with a mission “...to promote engineering and economic sciences and the advancement of business and industry for the benefit of society.” We bring together leading engineers, economists, researchers, entrepreneurs and leaders in business and the public sector, who contribute generously to IVA’s operations through their intellectual capital and their engagement.

IVA believes in humanity’s capacity to contribute positively to society through the engineering and economic sciences. We run a number of projects and programmes, produce reports, knowledge bases and policy proposals, and organise open seminars and meetings nationwide. We also recognise and encourage the efforts of others by awarding distinctions and grants.

Blodtransfusion är en livräddande behandling och en viktig hörnsten i modern sjukvård. Patienter med sällsynta blodgrupper kan ofta inte erbjudas blodtransfusion pga kronisk brist på kompatibelt blod och det leder till sämre vård.

Patienter med sällsynta blodgrupper kan ofta inte erbjudas blodtransfusion pga kronisk brist på kompatibelt blod och det leder till sämre vård.

Vi har utvecklat en metod för att konvertera vanligt blod i blodpåsar till en typ av sällsynt blod med hjälp av ett enzym. Det här möjliggör storskalig produktion av sällsynt blod och löser tillgången till blod för patienter med den ovanliga Bombay blodgruppen.

Det här är en enkel lösning på ett verkligt problem i sjukvården och vi söker samarbetspartners som kan hjälpa oss att kommersialisera den här processen.

IVA’s 100 List 2023 highlights a diverse range of research projects from Swedish universities, under the theme Technology in the Service of Humanity within in climate change, energy supply, welfare technology, cybersecurity and crisis preparedness. The projects have been selected based on their great potential to create value through commercialization, business and method development, or societal impact. All participating researchers are interested in increased contacts with the business sector for the application and further development of their projects.

Named contact persons for each research project on the 100 List are responsible for the accuracy of the information presented.
