"Sweden and the EU need to invest more in AI"

In order for Sweden to be able to maintain its competitiveness in the future, we need to invest more in AI development and innovation. This insight was reinforced for IVA's Chair Marcus Wallenberg, who led IVA's delegation trip to Silicon Valley, where around thirty people from industry, startups, investors, academia and the public sector participated, in the presence of The Crown Princess and Prince Daniel, as well as Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Johan Forssell.

"IVA's trip to Silicon Valley has given us valuable insights into the incredibly fast pace of AI development and its potential to transform both society and industry," says Marcus Wallenberg, Chair of IVA.

"There is no doubt that Sweden and the EU need to make significant investments in AI research and innovation in order not to miss out on the enormous potential that this technology has. This also applies to Swedish companies, which really need to accelerate the use of AI in order to maintain their competitiveness," Marcus Wallenberg continues delar av delegationen i steget, utomhus

Unique platform for collaboration

IVA is a national academy with a global perspective. Benchmarking, trend and external monitoring are central to IVA as an organisation and have been for many years. As early as the 1940s, IVA served as a catalyst for international networking and external monitoring. The trip to the US is an example of this, as IVA, with a focus on AI, brought together leading figures from various sectors, including government agencies, universities and companies.

"We are an independent academy building bridges between research, business and politics. The trip, which aimed to strengthen collaboration between Sweden and Silicon Valley in the field of AI, has illuminated IVA's unique platform," says Marcus Wallenberg
