IVA's 106th Annual Meeting Festivities
Many thanks to all fellows and friends of IVA who contributed to the festivities during this year's Annual Meeting - an evening to celebrate the art of engineering sciences!
During IVA's 106th annual meeting festivities, around 700 guests gathered at Stockholm City Hall to celebrate the art of engineering sciences and acknowledge important advances in research, innovation and technology.
Marcus Wallenberg, Chair, Sylvia Schwaag Serger, Managing President of IVA, and Olle Burell, Chairman of the City Council of Stockholm, with honoured guests before the opening of the Annual Meeting in the Golden Hall.
Marcus Wallenberg awarded Mats Danielsson, Helena Hedblom, Daniel Stenberg IVA's Gold Medal and Carl-Henric Svanberg IVA's Great Gold Medal 2025.
During the banquet, Carl-Henric Svanberg gave an appreciated speech of thanks on behalf of all this year's Gold Medalists.
Professor Kirsti Niskanen presented Karin Kock – pioneer, economist and public intellectual – the subject of IVA’s annual memorial tribute.
The memorial publication 2025 acknowledges Karin Kock (1891–1976) for her uniquely multifaceted career, achieved without the collegial and institutional support typically afforded to her male counterparts. She was the first woman to build a career as an academic economist, becoming a docent in economics and receiving the title of professor. She was also appointed Sweden’s first female cabinet minister and became the first woman to head a major government agency, Statistics Sweden. Wisdom, knowledge, clarity, acumen, expertise, precision, and respect are words that aptly describe Karin Kock’s remarkable contributions. The formal part of the annual meeting was concluded by IVA's President, Professor Sylvia Schwaag Serger , who traditionally gave this year's technology speech on advances in research, innovation and technology.
