Chester Carlson Research Award

The Chester Carlson Award is managed by IVA’s Foundation for Research in Information Science and is awarded to people, institutions or organisations for innovative research or development work in the field of information science.

Tekniksprånget

Tekniksprånget gives young people throughout Sweden the chance to try out the engineering profession through four months of paid work experience. The internship programme has been run by IVA since 2012, with the aim of inspiring more people to choose engineering at university level.

Roadmap for Metals and Minerals

The green transition means a sharp increase in demand for metals and minerals. Today, a few countries outside Europe control these resources. But Sweden and other countries in the EU have great potential to secure their supply, not least through rich ore deposits. The main question for IVA's project Roadmap for Metals and Minerals is how Sweden and Europe can sustainably secure the supply of metals and minerals.

Research2Business (R2B)

With its Research2Business (R2B) project IVA wants to support Sweden’s efforts to become a leader in turning academic research into innovation and competitiveness in business and industry. The goal is to strengthen and increase collaboration between university research and businesses to mutually benefit all actors. R2B is responsible for, among other things, compiling IVA’s 100-list, which will be published for the sixth time in 2024, and organizing the annual R2B Summit.

IVA’s 100 List 2024: Sweden’s Most Promising Research Projects

A simple hair test for early cancer detection, a healthy sugar substitute, and a rapid test for tuberculosis. These are some of the research projects selected for this year’s 100 List, focusing on innovation through interdisciplinary research, compiled by IVA. All research projects are considered to have great potential to benefit society.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) awards this year's gold medals to Anne L'Huillier, Gerteric Lindquist, Bo Normark and Xiaodong Zou. They receive the award for their outstanding contributions to technology, economics, business and society. IVA's Gold Medal has been awarded since 1921.

Smart Industry competition

The Smart Industry Business Competition recognises and rewards companies that take advantage of the opportunities offered by digitalisation in a smart and innovative way with clear results. The aim is to stimulate the digital and sustainable transformation of SMEs by highlighting best practice. The business competition has been held annually by IVA since 2016.

Engineer Anders Blom has been decisive for Sweden's ability to maintain its position as one of the world's most prominent aviation nations, through more than 40 years of work in Swedish aviation. Researchers Anders Ynnerman and Jonas Unger recieve the Chester Carlson Research Award of 50,000 Swedish Kronor each for their contributions to research in visualization and computer graphics. The prize has been awarded since 1985 to promote scientific research in the field of information science.

Satsning på digitalisering av svensk industri växlar upp

I januari växlar satsningen på forsknings- och innovationsprogrammet Avancerad Digitalisering upp. Med nästan dubblade anslag från forskningsmyndigheten Vinnova kommer minst en miljard per år satsas för att driva på den digitala omställningen av svensk industri. Ett nödvändigt steg om Sverige ska hänga med omvärlden. Det säger Pontus de Laval, programmets ordförande som också är IVA-ledamot.
