BrainFlow: currents that treat and wash the brain
Brain fluid failure causes swelling after stroke and trauma, while impaired protein clearance is linked to Alzheimer's. BrainFlow applies electroosmosis - discovered by Helmholtz in 1879 - in a new way: reducing swelling and clearing brain waste.
We apply electroosmosis to the living brain for the first time: a method that precisely controls brain fluid through scalp electrodes, personalized to each patient's anatomy. Our comprehensive preclinical validation across two species shows 60–70% swelling reduction, no tissue damage, reduced inflammation, and neural protection. Beyond acute treatment, the method enhances natural waste clearance - a new way towards Alzheimer’s prevention and treatment, with potential to benefit over 120 million people worldwide.Built on 14 years of research, patent protection, and Brain Flow AB, we are now building the clinical prototype and preparing for first-in-human trials. We seek medtech investors, clinical trial partners, and neurotech collaborators.
