IVA believes in humanity’s capacity to contribute positively to society through the engineering and economic sciences. We run a number of projects and programmes, produce reports, knowledge bases and policy proposals, and organise open seminars and meetings nationwide. Industrial carbon capture is essential for reaching climate targets, but current technologies are often slow, energy-intensive and costly, limiting large-scale deployment. A major bottleneck is the slow chemical conversion of CO₂ in capture solvents under harsh industrial conditions.BioCaptureX develops ultra-stable enzymes that accelerate CO₂ capture in post-combustion processes, enabling faster absorption with lower energy demand and smaller equipment. The technology is designed for real industrial environments, including high temperatures, alkaline conditions and flue gas impurities.The platform has strong scalability potential through enzyme engineering, immobilized biocatalysts and integration into pilot and industrial systems.
