In a time characterized by geopolitical uncertainty, rapid technological development and a global arms race, it is crucial for Sweden as a research and innovation nation to understand our strengths – and weaknesses.

IVA is now presenting an analysis of Sweden's position in strategically important technologies, with 48 sub-technologies, that are crucial for our future competitiveness, safety, sustainability and resilience. The analysis is based on a method that combines economic complexity, data science tools and interactive visualisations – a method previously used for the Draghi report on the EU's technological competitiveness – and has been developed for IVA by CEPS (Centre for European Policy Studies).

The analysis addresses questions such as:

  • How does Sweden stand globally in various strategic technology areas? What has the development looked like over time?
  • Which Swedish regions are the strongest? What does their ecosystem of companies, universities and startups look like?
  • Which collaborations within the EU should be prioritised to strengthen Sweden's position?

The results of the analysis are discussed by leading figures from academia, institutes, government agencies and industry.

The seminar will be held in English.
