New list: research projects with high potential for business and societal benefit

The Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) is now presenting this year's 100 list of research projects deemed to have great potential to benefit through commercialization, business and method development or societal impact. The focus is on technology in the service of humanity.

- Our intention is for IVA’s 100 List to shine a light on the need for researchers and industry to find each other and collaborate to solve the societal challenges we face. By building bridges between academia and business, research with the potential to change the world will have a better chance of being turned into actual benefits, says Tuula Teeri, IVA’s President.

Focus on technology in the service of humanity

In this year's 100 list, we highlight research projects that focus on ensuring that new and future innovations do not threaten but enable better management and distribution of the earth's limited resources, increased sustainability and circularity, greater equality, democracy, security, health and well-being for all humanity. The 70 research projects have been selected through a thorough nomination and selection process based on a set of defined criteria to create value for business and society.

The research is applicable in one of the areas:

  • Business models
  • Circular economy
  • Deep tech
  • Green and blue industries
  • Infrastructure
  • Society and welfare
  • Smart industry

A total of 70 research projects have been admitted to IVA's 100 List 2022. Some of the research projects are carried out in collaboration between several universities.

IVA’s 100 List

IVA’s annual 100 List pulls together a wide range of research projects from Swedish higher education institutions on topical themes – all with the potential to create value, through commercialisation, business and method development or societal impact.

By building bridges between the research and business communities, we offer greater opportunities for potentially world-changing research to realise its commercial and social value.
