IVAs Guldmedalj 2020 - Kristina Edström

Batteriforskaren Kristina Edström verkar inom ett av dagens hetaste områden. Forskningsinvesteringarna är enorma och förhoppningarna på resultat stora. Batterier ska ersätta fossila bränslen i bilar och lagra energi från förnybara källor och på så sätt bidra till att lösa vår tids största problem: klimatförändringarna.

IVAs remissvar på forskningsfinansieringsutredningen

Yttrande rörande betänkandet ”Ny myndighetsstruktur för finansiering av forskning och innovation” (SOU 2023:59). IVA anser att utredningen är mycket väl genomarbetad och att utredningens förslag har stor potential att förenkla och öka effektiviteten av statlig finansiering av forskning och innovation.

Genom samarbete löser vi samhällsutmaningarna. IVAs ”affärsidé” är just samverkan mellan akademien, näringslivet och det offentliga. IVA-ledamot Helena Hedblom Näringslivets mäktigaste kvinna

Helena Hedblom, vd Epiroc och ledamot av IVA sedan 2021 utses till Näringslivets mäktigaste kvinna 2024. På Dagens industris lista över de 125 kvinnor som de menar har störst makt att göra avtryck i det svenska näringslivet finns hela 23 IVA-ledamöter.

IVA Aktuellt 2019

The history of IVA

Sweden’s second youngest Royal Academy, the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA), was founded as recently as 1919, but is nevertheless the world’s oldest engineering academy.

Governance and management

IVA’s operations and mandate are regulated by the Academy’s statutes. IVA is governed by a Presidium that serves as the Academy’s board. The highest decision-making body at IVA is the Assembly of the Academy. IVA’s Secretariat and the Secretariat’s management team work to support the Academy’s operational activities, as well as driving development and change management work.

The Academy

IVA has approximately 1,300 elected Swedish and international Fellows, along with 250 member companies on the Business Executives Council. We bring together leading engineers, economists, researchers, entrepreneurs and leaders in business and the public sector, who contribute generously to IVA’s operations through their intellectual capital and their engagement. IVA’s patron is HM The King.

IVA seminars and events

IVA arranges seminars and other events, which in most cases are free of charge and open to everyone. In many cases, you can choose to participate on site or remotely via streaming - live or afterwards. Most events are held in Swedish.

2025 Hans Werthén Scholars

Ten young researchers and students residing in Sweden have been awarded this year's scholarships from the Hans Werthén Foundation, for studies and research abroad. The scholarships are granted with the aim of giving young academics the opportunity to develop in other countries and return with new knowledge and experience that can benefit Sweden.

Professor Joakim Nivre has been granted the Chester Carlson Research Award of 100,000 SEK for his innovative contributions to computational linguistics, his leadership in the research community, and his commitment to language technology through collaboration. The award has been granted since 1985 to promote scientific research in the field of information science.
