2025 Hans Werthén Scholars

Ten young researchers and students residing in Sweden have been awarded this year's scholarships from the Hans Werthén Foundation, for studies and research abroad. The scholarships are granted with the aim of giving young academics the opportunity to develop in other countries and return with new knowledge and experience that can benefit Sweden.

Joakim Nivre granted the Chester Carlson Research Award

Professor Joakim Nivre has been granted the Chester Carlson Research Award of 100,000 SEK for his innovative contributions to computational linguistics, his leadership in the research community, and his commitment to language technology through collaboration. The award has been granted since 1985 to promote scientific research in the field of information science.

"Sweden and the EU need to invest more in AI"

In order for Sweden to be able to maintain its competitiveness in the future, we need to invest more in AI development and innovation. This insight was reinforced for IVA's Chair Marcus Wallenberg, who led IVA's delegation trip to Silicon Valley, where around thirty people from industry, startups, investors, academia and the public sector participated, in the presence of The Crown Princess and Prince Daniel, as well as Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Johan Forssell.

Positiva ambitioner i regeringens forsknings- och innovationsproposition

Regeringen har nu presenterat mandatperiodens forsknings- och innovationsproposition, som ska visa riktningen för forskning och innovation de kommande fyra åren. Anslagen för forskning och utveckling föreslås öka successivt från 2025 till 2028 med totalt 6,5 miljarder kronor, som är ett steg på vägen till nivån på 1,2 procent av BNP för statlig finansiering till 2032 som IVA föreslagit.

IVAs yttrande om ”Finansiering och riskdelning vid investeringar i ny kärnkraft”

Yttrande rörande promemorian ”Finansiering och riskdelning vid investeringar i ny kärnkraft” (Fi 2023:F). IVA anser att utredningen redovisar en intressant analys av olika former för statligt stöd till investeringar i ny kärnkraft men att konsekvenserna för staten och skattebetalarna är otillräckligt belysta och inte jämförda med andra alternativ eller åtgärder med syfte att säkerställa Sveriges långsiktiga försörjning med el.
