Resurseffektivitet – Fakta och trender mot 2050

Visionen för IVAs projekt Resurseffektiva affärsmodeller är att Sverige år 2050 ses som en global förebild för ett rent och resurseffektivt samhälle där näringslivet har de allra bästa förutsättningarna att utveckla och exportera resurseffektiva lösningar och bidra till landets konkurrenskraft.

Månadens Vera

Under 2018 och 2019 gjorde IVAs Studentråd ett antal intervjuer under rubriken #månadensvera. Syftet var att lyfta ingenjörskvinnor både i och utanför IVAs nätverk för att inspirera andra kvinnor till att välja en ingenjörsutbildning. Genom intervjuerna visades bredden på de möjligheter som en ingenjörsutbildning har att erbjuda.

Katarina Gunnarsson tilldelas IVAs pris för vetenskaplighet inom journalistiken

IVAs pris för vetenskaplighet inom journalistiken - Hans Bergström-priset - delas ut för fjärde gången vid IVAs Akademisammankomst den 29 maj. Priset är på 100 000 kronor. Pristagare för 2018 är Katarina Gunnarsson, reporter vid Sveriges Radio. I sin motivering lyfter juryn bland annat fram hennes integritet och självständighet.

Rapport: Fem vägval för Sverige

IVAs projekt Vägval el publicerar sin syntesrapport som ger förslag på fem vägval för Sveriges energipolitik. Tillgång till el är en förutsättning för all utveckling. Genom att utveckla ett hållbart elsystem kan Sverige koppla samman minskad miljö- och klimatpåverkan med stärkt konkurrenskraft.

Underlagsstudie: Svängmassa i elsystemet

Studien från IVAs projekt Vägval el som beskriver begreppet svängmassa, och dess betydelse i elsystemet. Elsystemet måste alltid vara i balans. Det innebär att tillförd effekt ständigt måste anpassas så att den blir lika med den totala effektförbrukningen, inklusive förluster i hela systemet.

Rapport: Samhällsbyggande, drivmedel och energi

I sin andra delrapport belyser IVAs projekt Innovation i skogsnäringen de tre ämnena samhällsbyggande, biodrivmedel och biobränsle. Fokus är till stor del på hur svensk skogsnäring i dessa tre områden kan bidra till ett mer hållbart samhälle.

Energy and Resources

Energy and resource efficiency and the circular economy are key to Swedish competitiveness and achieving the climate goals. Sustainable alternatives are needed if promises of a fossil-free energy system and a climate-smart industrial and transport sector are to be realised.

Skills Supply

The school and education system is vital for Swedish competitiveness – as is making Sweden an attractive country for highly skilled people and companies to work in. IVA aims to stimulate lifelong learning, positive attitudes to knowledge and education, and young people’s curiosity, problem-solving skills and joy of discovery.

Climate Urgency and the Nordic Response

With respect to climate policy, Sweden was an early mover in introducing a tax on CO2 emissions from fossil fuels already in 1991. By the end of the 1990s the Swedish electricity sector was almost decarbonised. The remaining sectors, industry and transport, are curerntly the targets of ambitious decarbonization efforts, in Sweden and in the EU.

Projects and programmes

IVA believes in humanity’s capacity to contribute positively to society through the engineering and economic sciences. We run a number of projects and programmes, both short and long-term, with the ambition of promoting social development through knowledge and common sense.

Research2Business (R2B)

With its Research2Business (R2B) project IVA wants to support Sweden’s efforts to become a leader in turning academic research into innovation and competitiveness in business and industry. The goal is to strengthen and increase collaboration between university research and businesses to mutually benefit all actors. R2B is responsible for, among other things, compiling IVA’s 100-list, which will be published for the sixth time in 2024, and organizing the annual R2B Summit.

Roadmap for Metals and Minerals

The green transition means a sharp increase in demand for metals and minerals. Today, a few countries outside Europe control these resources. But Sweden and other countries in the EU have great potential to secure their supply, not least through rich ore deposits. The main question for IVA's project Roadmap for Metals and Minerals is how Sweden and Europe can sustainably secure the supply of metals and minerals.

Tekniksprånget

Tekniksprånget gives young people throughout Sweden the chance to try out the engineering profession through four months of paid work experience. The internship programme has been run by IVA since 2012, with the aim of inspiring more people to choose engineering at university level.

Chester Carlson Research Award

The Chester Carlson Award is managed by IVA’s Foundation for Research in Information Science and is awarded to people, institutions or organisations for innovative research or development work in the field of information science.

Smart Industry competition

The Smart Industry Business Competition recognises and rewards companies that take advantage of the opportunities offered by digitalisation in a smart and innovative way with clear results. The aim is to stimulate the digital and sustainable transformation of SMEs by highlighting best practice. The business competition has been held annually by IVA since 2016.
