Competitive CLT

Replacement of non-renewable construction materials with wood-based materials such as cross-laminated timber (CLT) offers a great potential for cost-efficient reduction of carbon footprint for a resource efficient construction sector.

IVAs 100-lista 2023

Replacement of non-renewable construction materials with wood-based materials such as cross-laminated timber (CLT) offers a great potential for cost-efficient reduction of carbon footprint for a resource efficient construction sector.

Crucial aspects for increased competitiveness of CLT-based building systems developed in this project include (1) Effective utilization of available raw material to produce CLT panels with optimized structural properties, (2) Reliable design models of connections with efficient connectors minimizing costs and labor in construction, (3) Instrumentation and monitoring of buildings to ensure maintenance of safety and performance over time, and (4) Life cycle assessment of buildings. Synergies are obtained in the interaction between the sub-projects through the unique structure of the project with business partners along the value chain to facilitate implementation of research results and to maximize the green advantage of the CLT building technology.

IVA’s 100 List 2023 - Technology in the service of humanity

IVA’s 100 List 2023 highlights a diverse range of research projects from Swedish universities, under the theme Technology in the Service of Humanity within in climate change, energy supply, welfare technology, cybersecurity and crisis preparedness. The projects have been selected based on their great potential to create value through commercialization, business and method development, or societal impact. All participating researchers are interested in increased contacts with the business sector for the application and further development of their projects.

Named contact persons for each research project on the 100 List are responsible for the accuracy of the information presented.
