Our project focuses on material, component and process improvements for the cost-efficient large-scale production of bio-based batteries. The technology is unique and combines: High performance (cost/energy ratio <150 €/kWh); High safety: (non flammable); High sustainability: lignin from the forest; High recyclability; High manufacturability: roll-to-roll process; Low energy density: bulky batteries, but acceptable for many non-automotive applications; Low cost: 0.04 €/kWh/cycle (4x cheaper than Lead-acid and 20x cheaper than Li-ion).

IVA’s 100 List 2020 - Sustainable competitiveness

IVA’s 100 List 2020 highlights a diverse range of research projects from Swedish universities, under the theme Sustainable competitiveness. The projects have been selected based on their great potential to create value through commercialization, business and method development, or societal impact. All participating researchers are interested in increased contacts with the business sector for the application and further development of their projects.
