Our breakthrough in aerodynamics: Adaptive Euler, makes it possible for the first time to design aircraft and other engineering systems by simulation. Until today the industry has not trusted aerodynamics simulation, but Euler aerodynamics makes simulation reliable. The breakthrough has been recognized by NASA. Based on the breakthrough, Johan has collaborated in the Vinnova ELISE project for electric aircraft together with Heart Aerospace, and is collaborating with SAAB for developing aircraft. With Adaptive Euler the industry can reliably design, optimize, certify and innovate aircraft, etc. which is of key importance for a sustainable and secure future.

We have also developed DigiMat, an online education based on the framework of the breakthrough. DigiMat is a unique program combining creativity with math and is available for all levels. With DigiMat you draw your own characters and give them life with mathematical programming. Students love learning with DigiMat and teachers say that the creative aspect of DigiMat is huge, it makes math and programming meaningful. DigiMat has been recognized as a “solution to the crisis in Math/STEM education” by IVA and Swedish Engineers, and also solves the gender gap in STEM. Partnerships have been established with school districts in California and Michigan in the US, as well as with IVA Tekniksprånget and in Lidingö in Sweden.

IVA’s 100 List 2019 - From knowledge to competitiveness

IVA’s 100 List 2019 highlights a diverse range of research projects from Swedish universities, under the theme From knowledge to competitiveness. The projects have been selected based on their great potential to create value through commercialization, business and method development, or societal impact. All participating researchers are interested in increased contacts with the business sector for the application and further development of their projects.

Named contact persons for each research project on the 100 List are responsible for the accuracy of the information presented.
