Intelligent ECG Sensing for cardiacarrhythmia detection

According to the World Health Organization, cardiovascular disease is responsible for roughly one-third of all deaths worldwide each year, and based on the European Heart Network, this disease causes over 1.8 million premature deaths in EU annually, accounting for 37% of all deaths in EU.

The goal of this project is development of a wearable device capable of measuring ECG signals using only two active electrodes that has no direct contact with the patient’s skin. Furthermore, an Intelligent ECG sensing method recognizes the state of heartbeat, learns, and trains the model for detection of various cardiac arrhythmia.

We develop a system that is more sensitive and intelligent than currently available products usable by any person with limited healthcare training. This system is also portable for continuous health monitoring and provide healthcare to anybody, anytime, anywhere, thus it is anticipated that premature deaths from cardiovascular disease to drop significantly.

IVA’s 100 List 2023 - Technology in the service of humanity

IVA’s 100 List 2023 highlights a diverse range of research projects from Swedish universities, under the theme Technology in the Service of Humanity within in climate change, energy supply, welfare technology, cybersecurity and crisis preparedness. The projects have been selected based on their great potential to create value through commercialization, business and method development, or societal impact. All participating researchers are interested in increased contacts with the business sector for the application and further development of their projects.

Named contact persons for each research project on the 100 List are responsible for the accuracy of the information presented.
