To do so we are developing novel biomaterials from renewable feedstocks with Nordic Bio-Rubber being our first material that will hit the market. It is produced from birch bark, an abundant residue of the Scandinavian pulp and paper industry, and based on a comprehensive material characterisation we believe that Nordic Bio-Rubber has the potential to replace synthetic rubbers in a variety of applications.

This will help Sweden to be a leader in sustainable technology, thus reducing our dependence on fossil fuels and making Sweden's industry more robust against future crises.

IVA’s 100 List 2021 - Sustainable crisis preparedness

IVA’s 100 List 2021 highlights a diverse range of research projects from Swedish universities, under the theme Sustainable crisis preparedness. The projects have been selected based on their great potential to create value through commercialization, business and method development, or societal impact. All participating researchers are interested in increased contacts with the business sector for the application and further development of their projects.
