ParkApp

A low-cost, digital tool for continuous multi-dimensional remote assessment based on a mobile phone app and a smartwatch, for Parkinson's disease (PD) patients.

IVAs 100-lista 2022

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a detrimental neurodegenerative disease. Its assessment is often subjective, infrequent and unreliable. Smartphones and wearables allow to measure symptoms objectively and at patients' homes, but existing systems for PD usually focus on a single symptom. We have developed a low-cost, digital tool for continuous multi-dimensional remote assessment based on a mobile phone app and a smartwatch. PD patients can answer questionnaires and perform tests aimed at measuring motor and vocal symptoms.

We will collect data from 40 patients to train algorithms that will extract clinically-singificant indicators. If successful, the tool may improve patients' follow-up and care.

IVA’s 100 List 2022 - Technology in the Service of Humanity

IVA’s 100 List 2022 highlights a diverse range of research projects from Swedish universities, under the theme Technology in the Service of Humanity. The projects have been selected based on their great potential to create value through commercialization, business and method development, or societal impact. All participating researchers are interested in increased contacts with the business sector for the application and further development of their projects.

Named contact persons for each research project on the 100 List are responsible for the accuracy of the information presented.
