Recovering the Lost Energy

This project focuses on intensifying heat-exchange at low operating temperatures in order to harvest heat – for direct use or for storage and later use.

IVAs 100-lista 2023

Energy and Crisis have been the main topics in 2022 and continue in 2023. With increasing gas and electricity prices, one wonders where is the cheap energy that we enjoyed not so long time ago. In fact, it is still around but we do not harvest it.

About 70% of the energy we use is not providing any service, it is just left escaping as low temperature heat. Yes, we need to find solutions to harvest this treasure. However, recovering low temperature heat is not often done and suitable techniques are lacking.

When temperature is low, the driving force to move the heat is very low as well – hence one should be doing it smartly. This calls for novel and innovative solutions.

This project focuses on intensifying heat-exchange at low operating temperatures in order to harvest heat – for direct use or for storage and later use. To that end we leverage high-performance simulations to understand all important details and additive manufacturing to create perfect heat-exchange.

IVA’s 100 List 2023 - Technology in the service of humanity

IVA’s 100 List 2023 highlights a diverse range of research projects from Swedish universities, under the theme Technology in the Service of Humanity within in climate change, energy supply, welfare technology, cybersecurity and crisis preparedness. The projects have been selected based on their great potential to create value through commercialization, business and method development, or societal impact. All participating researchers are interested in increased contacts with the business sector for the application and further development of their projects.

Named contact persons for each research project on the 100 List are responsible for the accuracy of the information presented.
