IVAs Guldmedalj 2021: Sara Mazur

Sara Mazur leder landets enskilt största forskningsprogram. Mångmiljardsatsningen WASP, finansierad av Knut och Alice Wallenbergs Stiftelse tillsammans med lärosäten och industrin, ska lyfta Sverige inom AI, autonoma system och mjukvara. Framgångsfaktorn är samverkan mellan akademi och näringsliv. Målet är 600 doktorander och 80 rekryteringar till 2030.

Forskaren Ali Ghodsi, tilldelas Chester Carlsons forskningspris på 100 000 kronor, för sin forskning inom området distribuerad datoranvändning inkluderande distribuerade system, molndata, big data och nätverk. Priset på 100 000 kr överlämnas till Ali Ghodsi den 2 december 2021.

Staten måste ta större ansvar för digitalisering av välfärden

Digitaliseringen av välfärdstjänsterna går för långsamt. Det hotar både kvalitet och tillgänglighet inom vård, skola och omsorg. Staten behöver därför skapa en struktur som stimulerar privata och offentliga aktörer att höja tempot i arbetet. Det slår Kungl. Ingenjörsvetenskapsakademien (IVA) fast i en ny rapport.

Rekordmånga forskningsprojekt från IVAs 100-lista utvalda till Silicon Valley

Antalet forskningsprojekt från IVAs 100-listor som är utvalda för Vinnovas exklusiva inkubatorprogram REACH i Silicon Valley har fördubblats jämfört med förra året. Projekten innehåller alla tekniska lösningar med stor potential att kommersialiseras och komma till nytta.

IVA's List for Research Impact

We are now seeking candidates for IVA's List for Research Impact. The IVA List highlights current research projects within the field of engineering sciences, conducted at Swedish universities and research institutes, that show a clear ambition to be commercialised. The research should be ready to generate impact within the foreseeable future. The application period is open from 4 February to 20 February 2026.

2025 Hans Werthén Scholars

Ten young researchers and students residing in Sweden have been awarded this year's scholarships from the Hans Werthén Foundation, for studies and research abroad. Royal Technology Mission to the Netherlands

Last week, the 2024 Royal Technology Mission (RTM) to the Netherlands was carried out. The delegation, led by HM The King and IVA's Chair Marcus Wallenberg, consisted of leading representatives from academia, business and the public sector in Sweden. The focus of the trip was AI, quantum technology and cybersecurity.

Astronaut Marcus Wandt, one of this year's Thulin medallists

The Aviation and Aerospace Engineering Association (FTF) and the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) have awarded this year's Thulin Gold Medal to Swedish astronaut Marcus Wandt. Engineers Daniel Eckerström and Roy Kihlén are awarded silver medals for their efforts in the development of fiber optic temperature measurement systems, which have contributed to increasing safety in civil aviation.

AI in focus when IVA delegation visits Silicon Valley

A delegation from the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) visits Silicon Valley on February 19–22. Parts of the visit take place in the presence of DD.KK.HH. The Crown Princess and Prince Daniel. The goal is to increase cooperation opportunities between Silicon Valley and Sweden and, by extension, strengthen Sweden's position in digitization and AI.
