IVA’s Student Council

The Student Council is a meeting place for socially engaged engineering and economics students who want to help develop ideas for Sweden’s future, by taking part in IVA’s discussions and work.

IVA’s Business Executives Council

The Business Executives Council roots IVA in the business community, making it an essential part of the Academy. The members make a strong contribution to the work of the Academy, and have considerable scope to influence issues in areas such as business, education and research policy.

About IVA

IVA has approximately 1,300 elected Swedish and international Fellows, along with 250 member companies on the Business Executives Council. We bring together leading engineers, economists, researchers, entrepreneurs and leaders in business and the public sector, who contribute generously to IVA’s operations through their intellectual capital and their engagement. IVA’s patron is HM The King.

Governance and management

IVA’s operations and mandate are regulated by the Academy’s statutes. IVA is governed by a Presidium that serves as the Academy’s board. The highest decision-making body at IVA is the Assembly of the Academy. IVA’s Secretariat and the Secretariat’s management team work to support the Academy’s operational activities, as well as driving development and change management work.

Research and Innovation

Research and innovation are key to competitiveness and prosperity – and require collaboration between the worlds of academia and business. Successful collaborations on research results that lead to innovations and business development strengthen Sweden’s competitiveness and contribute to positive social development.

IVA seminars and events

IVA arranges seminars and other events, which in most cases are free of charge and open to everyone. In many cases, you can choose to participate on site or remotely via streaming - live or afterwards. Most events are held in Swedish.

The Industrial Research Council

The Industrial Research Council gives young leaders in research, development and innovation the opportunity to develop their knowledge and leadership, as well as stimulating ideas that are strategically important for the future of Swedish industry. Nominations for the 2027 admissions will open in spring 2026.

Resilient Digital Infrastructure

The overall goal of the project is to contribute to Sweden's digital infrastructure being able to measure up to the most advanced countries in the world in terms of capacity, quality and security. The project brings together different perspectives to come up with concrete and feasible proposals for action that strengthen the resilience of the digital infrastructure.

NTA Digital

Within NTA Digital, digital learning materials are developed for the school development program Science and Technology for All (NTA), which is aimed at students and teachers from pre-school to year nine.

Digitalisation – an enabler of future welfare services

Digitalisation leads to fundamental changes and opens up new possibilities for how to design welfare services. To improve how services are delivered, politicians and other decision-makers need to raise their knowledge and awareness of digitalisation's opportunities and risks.

Junior Academy

The Junior Academy is an international science programme aimed at young people aged 13 to 17 who want to contribute to a better world and enjoy extra challenges outside of school hours.

Prince Daniel's Fellowship

Prince Daniel's Fellowship is run by the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) in collaboration with Honorary Chairman H.R.H. Prince Daniel, with the aim of inspiring more young people to see entrepreneurship as an alternative and dare to take the step to start their own business.

Schools for Our Times

IVA project (2019-2024) aimed at promoting the development of Swedish schools so that they meet the long-term knowledge needs of students and society, and consolidate Sweden’s position as a knowledge nation.
