New Analysis: Sweden’s Position in Strategically Important Technologies
How does Sweden fare in the global race for key technologies such as artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, materials science, and biotechnology? You are warmly invited to a seminar where IVA will present a mapping of Sweden’s position, developed by the European think tank CEPS.
Event information
IVA Konferenscenter, Grev Turegatan 16, Stockholm
The event is streamed online
In a time marked by geopolitical uncertainty, rapid technological advancement, and global competition, it is crucial for Sweden -as a nation of research and innovation - to understand our strengths and weaknesses.
The analysis is based on a methodology that combines economic complexity, data science tools, and interactive visualisations—a method previously used in, among others, the Draghi report on the EU’s technological competitiveness—and has been compiled for IVA by CEPS (Centre for European Policy Studies).
The analysis addresses questions such as:
- How does Sweden compare globally across various strategic technology domains? How has this developed over time?
- Which Swedish regions are the strongest? What do their ecosystems of companies, universities, and startups look like?
- Which EU collaborations should be prioritised to strengthen Sweden's position?
The results of the analysis will be discussed by leading figures from academia, research institutes, public authorities and industry.
