Selection criteria for IVA’s 100 List

IVA’s 100 List promotes researchers who wish to make greater contact with the business community and social actors. The selection is therefore not based on the scientific excellence of the research, but primarily on its potential for commercial development, innovation and social benefit. However, high scientific quality is a prerequisite for publication on the 100 List.

R2B Summit 2023

The full-day event R2B Summit 2023 took place at 7A Posthuset in Stockholm on 4 October. The R2B Summit is a unique meeting place with opportunities for researchers and the business community to find each other and exchange experiences and perspectives, with a view to creating innovations and business opportunities together. The programme is aimed at those who hold a leading position or are responsible for innovation, research and development at a company or an organisation. And at researchers on IVA’s 100 List 2023.

Meeting the Rising Global Competition in Sweden: OECD's Science, Technology, and Innovation Outlook

How is global competition evolving, and what measures can Sweden adopt to address challenges in order to enhance competitiveness and growth? The seminar will feature a presentation of OECD's Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) Outlook 2023, showcasing a significantly heightened global emphasis on strengthening countries' research and innovation systems. The seminar will feature discussions with Minister of Education Mats Persson, Minister of Energy and Enterprise Ebba Busch (to be confirmed), OECD's Director for STI Jerry Sheehan, Professor Sara Mazur from KAW, as well as Sweden's appointed representatives from various countries' Innovation and Research Councils.

IVA's Smart Industry

Through IVA’s Smart industry project the Academy wants to stimulate digital transformation in small and medium-sized enterprises by, for example, highlighting and sharing good examples. The project originates from Smart industry – a new industrialisation strategy for Sweden (Ministry of Enterprise, Energy and Communications 2015) and mainly operates through the Smart Industry competition.

IVA’s Entrepreneurship Academy

IVA's Entrepreneurship Academy works with exchange of experiences, knowledge acquisition and policy development to promote and strengthen entrepreneurship and stimulate more entrepreneurs in Sweden. In practice the project aims to increase knowledge about entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial abilities and contribute to improving policy and regulations.

Third Swede in space important door opener

IVA member Anna Rathsman is present when Marcus Wandt takes off from the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida on Wednesday to become Sweden's third astronaut in space. In her role as Director General of the Swedish National Space Agency, Anna Rathsman has been the spider in the web to make everything work. The mission could be a door opener for tomorrow's engineers and space researchers.

A Resource-Effective Food Sector in Sweden

Global food production today accounts for a significant percentage of human impact on the environment, the climate and the planet’s natural resources. The Food subproject, which is part of IVA’s project Resource Effectiveness and the Circular Economy, therefore wants to help find ways to reduce the amount of food that is lost or goes to waste.

IVAs Guldmedalj 2020 - Fredrik Bäckhed

Våra tarmar innehåller mer än ett kilo bakterier. De finns framför allt i tjocktarmen, där de bryter ner kostfibrer och främmande ämnen som våra celler själva inte kan ta hand om. Nästan alla dessa bakterier tillhör någon av två speciella grupper, som inte gör oss sjuka på samma sätt som många andra bakterier.

Omtvistad teknik i fokus på klimatmötet i Dubai

Klimatmötet COP28 i Dubai är över och en ny klimatöverenskommelse har undertecknats av nästan 200 länder. I avtalet öppnas för fortsatt utvinning och användning av fossila bränslen, förutsatt att man satsar på teknik för att fånga in koldioxidutsläppen. Ett steg framåt, men långt ifrån en lösning på alla problem. Det säger Johan Kuylenstierna, IVA-ledamot och generaldirektör på forskningsrådet Formas.
