Projektet är inriktat mot olika problemställningar kring sötvatten. Rent vatten och sanitet är en utmaning för hållbar utveckling i Sverige och världen. Saknas detta är riskerna många. Ekosystem som skogar, sjöar och vattendrag påverkas negativt. Hållbara städer kan inte skapas utan tillgång på vatten av god kvalitet och effektiva system för avloppsrening. Brist på rent vatten leder ofta till allvarliga konsekvenser för människors försörjning som på sikt kan leda till intressekonflikter med säkerhetspolitiska konsekvenser.
