The Future of Solar Energy – research and development of Solar Cells
Top Scientist Lecture by Professor Tsutomu Miyasaka, Toin University of Yokohama. In two hours, the earth receives as much energy from the sun as the entire world's population uses in a year. Part of the energy from the sun can be converted into electricity with the help of solar cells. Professor Tsutomu Miyasaka's long research in the field has contributed to the development of new materials and techniques to make solar cells more efficient, which reduces both the cost and the area needed.

Professor Tsutomu Miyasaka has conducted research in electro- and photochemistry and developed highly sensitive photographic materials, lithium-ion batteries and photoreceptors. In 2009, Professor Miyasaka was awarded by the Ministry of Science and Education for his efforts in green sustainable solar cell technology.
The Top Scientist Lecture seminar is a recurring collaboration between JSPS – Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, the Japanese Embassy, SJF (Sweden Japan Foundation) and IVA. With support from SSF - The Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research.
The seminar will be held in English.
